Airway Orthodontics
A child’s head and jaws develop faster than any other part of the body.
By age 4, 90% of craniofacial development has already occurred.
Airway Orthodontics
Airway orthodontics is a modern and multidisciplinary approach to evaluating your child’s oral health and its relationship to their overall development. At Bright Buds Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Peiravani uses tools from her extensive training in airway orthodontics and looks beyond just teeth to evaluate the relationship between your child’s oral development and their overall health. She screens every child for potential airway issues that can lead to symptoms like restless sleep, teeth grinding, mouth breathing and even surprising behavioral issues such as ADHD.
Dr. Peiravani knows that these things are all connected, and early intervention can make a lifelong difference!
Multidisciplinary Approach
Dr. Peiravani realizes that proper care for your child’s airway health is a team effort. She partners with a trusted network of local providers such as physicians, myofunctional therapists, and other airway providers. All of these groups have one common goal, which is helping your child’s airway develop normally and setting your child up for a lifetime of good health!

What to expect

Getting Started, A Compassionate First Step
Every child is unique, and that’s why our process begins with a caring, in-depth consultation. We’ll take time to get to know you and your child, go over their health history, and listen closely to any concerns you may have. You’ll also complete a questionnaire to help us better understand their habits and daily routines. To gain a full picture of your child’s airway and development, we’ll take imaging as part of the initial assessment.
-
Tailored Care, Just for Your Child With a clear
With your child’s needs in mind, we’ll create a fully personalized treatment plan designed to support healthy growth and function. This may include a removable habit appliance, palatal expander, or myofunctional therapy, depending on what best supports your child’s airway development and overall well-being.
-
Ongoing Support &
Guided Progress
We’re with you every step of the way. Throughout the treatment journey, you’ll come in for regular check-ins so we can monitor your child’s progress, make any needed adjustments, and ensure everything is moving in the right direction. We want you to feel confident, supported, and informed throughout the entire process.
-
Milestones Worth Celebrating
As your child begins to sleep better, breathe more easily, and thrive in their daily life, we’ll take time to reflect on how far they’ve come. Together, we’ll celebrate the improvements in their health, comfort, and overall quality of life.
Why does early intervention matter?
-
If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms above, they might have an underlying issue related to their jaw and airway development. Tongue ties, speech delays, narrow jaws, and poor sleep can all be connected! A problem in one of these areas can significantly impact how your child eats, breathes, speaks, and develops, leading to chronic issues such as sleep disordered breathing or sleep apnea.
-
Early intervention with orthodontic expansion allow for proper tongue space which leads to proper facial development and improved breathing and sleep quality.
-
The earlier these issues are identified, the easier it is to address them. At Bright Buds, we believe in proactive care that supports the whole child from the very start.
-
If your child has problems with sleep, speech, or eating, a quick evaluation with Dr. Peiravani could make all the difference by addressing the root of their problem.
